After a long conversation with Dr. Atwood, our Coleman County Health Department representative, we're looking at a different path on quarantine for campuses with successful mask wearing. Our high school has been consistently better at wearing masks, with several 100% compliance checks. With this condition of 100% compliance, students that have been sitting nearby have been notified and asked to seek medical attention if any Covid–19 symptoms arise and report to the case to their campus. While this makes decision-making challenging, it does help those that do everything we ask to participate if they are healthy. Currently, it would not apply to grades 8 and below, as we are not at 100% compliance on checks. We're working on addressing these issues. We are contacting those students that we placed on quarantine yesterday and allowing them to return to campus if they are 100% healthy.
This is challenging to navigate, but we're doing the best decision-making we can. So far, cases seem to be coming from the outside to our students. We hope that students, parents, and community members continue to wear masks in public beyond the schoolhouse walls.
