On April 25, 16 first graders attended an electronic field trip offered by the Texas Wildlife Association in San Antonio via the school's Distance Learning Lab. The local students, along with others around the state, learned about Monarch butterflies, the state insect of Texas.
For such a delicate insect, the Monarch butterfly leads an adventurous life! During spring and fall, millions of Monarchs will travel through Texas on their way to or from their overwintering sites in Mexico. Students learned the basic needs, life cycle, adaptations, and migration patterns of the Monarch butterfly and howwe all can help conserve this unique creature.
