The Captain William Buckner Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution have selected the 2018-2019 Good Citizen Award winners from each county high school.
Shiean Walters of Coleman, Gracie Cole of Panther Creek and Domanic Enriquez of Santa Anna were recognized Saturday, February 9, at Heritage Hall. They were presented the DAR Good Citizen Award Certificate, DAR Pin and a gift card.
The DAR Good Citizen Award honors an outstanding person from the senior class of the three county high schools. Each demonstrate Honor, Service, Courage and Patriotism.
DOMANIC ENRIQUEZ is the son of Joe Enriquez and Anna Bahena. The Santa Anna senior has participated in a wide range of activities including track, tennis and band all four years, qualified for Regional and State Cross Country, medaling his senior year. In track he qualified for State his junior year. In tennis he qualified for regional and doubles. In band he qualified for state in trumpet quartet among other honors. He was also S.A.H.S. Homecoming King and S.A.H.S. Band Beau. Domanic plans to attend South Plains College in Levelland and major in Welding.
GRACIE COLE is the daughter of Rodney and Laci Cole. The Panther Creek senior has been a part of FFA all through her high school career, serving as District Officer for the Big Country District. She has showed pigs every year in high school and served on numerous judging teams. She has played basketball for three years, golf for two years, cheerleader for four years, Class President the last two years. She was named Homecoming Queen the past year. Gracie is looking forward to pursuing her dream job of Sonography at Weatherford College in the fall.
SHIEAN WALTERS is the granddaughter of Mackie and Lavelle Walters (Cafeteria Director at Santa Anna ISD). The Coleman High School senior has participated in cross country, track, basketball, softball and cheer. She has been a Regional qualifier in cross country all four years of high school and a State qualifier in track her sophomore and junior year. She has received the Martha Allen Award in track her freshman, sophomore and junior year. She has won awards in UIL One Act Play and has been a member of CHS Honor Classes while maintaining AB Honor Roll. Upon graduation, Shiean plans to attend Cisco College pursuing a degree in Psychology with the ultimate goal of becoming a Forensic Psychologist.
