On Friday, May 11th, 1st graders took a field trip to the new Fire Station and the Lehnis Train Museum in Brownwood.
The Lehnis Train Musuem exhibits a variety of railroad memorabilia and equipment, photos and stories of early railroads while interpreting the importance of the railroad to this area and American life. The students were also allowed to ride the mini-train.
At the Fire Station, students took a tour of the sleeping, dining facilities and got to get up close to fire engines and tour where the firefighters store their gear. After the tour, students left a box of snacks as a way of saying, "Thank You" to the fire fighters and first responders for their service to the community.
We want to thank the families of the students who donated snack items. It was a meaningful expression of gratitude for the students and the fire fighters.
